Trapped in Tired?

At a recent CEO forum, a couple of people reflected that they weren't treating themselves with the same kindness as they would extend to their teams.
They realised that while they were often telling others not to stay back, write emails at night, or to take the morning off if they had worked late, that they weren't extending the same grace to themselves.
To sustain yourself, your energy and satisfaction levels, is it so important to balance your efforts with recovery. Whether it's one late night, or a long stretch of intensity, building in space for ebbs and flows will help you to sustain yourself longer term and lead successfully.
However this doesn't have to mean wholescale change. You don't need to overhaul your diet, meditate daily and get 10,000 steps all at once to feel better.
It might just be:
🔶 Allowing yourself to feel tired and recover, without pushing through.
🔶 Predicting when you will need a slower paced week after an intense period of taxing work.
🔶 Booking in lunch breaks.
🔶 Having a day off with no agenda.
🔶 Working from home for a day on a passion project.
Sometimes the laundry list of things we 'should' do is just too overwhelming, so we carry on doing what we've done before and feel bad about it.
Small changes can be liberating and relieve you from feeling trapped in the tired.
Something is better than nothing - and represents a small step towards getting back in control of your energy and enthusiasm.
