Is Your Mental Roaming On?

You know those times when you have had a striking moment of clarity?
I bet it's not when you're in back to back meetings or smashing through emails.
It's when you have some capacity to allow the brain to wander. The mental space to be able to let your brain do the heavy lifting with no effort at all.
Whilst you can't plan when the lighting bolt will strike, you can create a buffer in your daily life to allow some mental roaming.
The greatest moments of clarity, insight or inspiration almost always come when we're doing something other than the daily grind.
Talking, walking, planning, pottering, writing, showering, listening...all of a sudden a new connection is made, clarity strikes and we can move forward once again.
Thinking strategically requires capacity. To be creative, to problem solve, to get new perspective, to process information, look ahead and get clarity on the way forward. It’s another gear of operating, but a valuable one.
