Leading strategically is like putting a jigsaw together.
It's a deliberate play between scanning for key pieces, to stepping back to view the entire picture.
Amidst all the change and challenge, how do you ensure you're finding the pieces to create your vision of the future?
Here are some pieces to consider for your weekly puzzle:
1. Strategic space: Aim for a couple of hours weekly. Even 30 minutes can make a difference. As you master planning and delegating, you’ll find more room for strategy.
2. Prioritising and planning: Not sexy I know, but this will keep you in the driver's seat. What are your big-ticket items for the week, month and quarter? Identify and schedule in the few critical actions to move things forward. (not a laundry list!)
3. Deliberate delegation: Remember, it's about steering the ship, not rowing the boat. Look at what's on your plate. Plan what you can handover, when, and how you'll do it.
4. Connection & Communication: Consider the crucial conversations that need to be had. Who should you connect with? What messages need to be shared with your team? Plan your approach to any tough conversations.
5. Visibility: Spend time with your people and build real relationships. Share a laugh.
6. Progress: Don't forget this one, it's critical for momentum. Reflect on achievements as well as efforts and incremental progress.
7. Time for you: To be clear, calm and strategic, look after yourself and lead by example.
